Let’s get this party started.

A week ago today, I informed work that I would be leaving. Everyone has been supportive, and it’s been good to be able to tell my clients, who are also mostly supportive so far.

Beyond that, I feel as if I am in a bit of a purgatorial state, while I am figuring out how to pay for everything.
The cost of boot camp and a development accelerator isn’t much in the big scheme of things, but it is equal to my take home pay last year (and for the last several.)
I don’t have the money “just lying around” waiting to be used for something. There are a number of different options, and I am trying to work out one that is closest to “ideal”. Ideal would be a scholarship, although that still only pays for 70%. Also, I will have to apply for two scholarships, regardless of whether I get the first one or not.
I’ve already applied for one for boot camp, and have several days to go to find out about it.
In the meantime, I am exploring other options such as a consumer loan, home equity loan, etc.
There’s a lot of “Catch-22” involved with the idea that I don’t have the money for school, because I need to make more money, which I can only do if I can find a way to pay for school. I’m sure it will happen somehow or other, but until I’ve got it figured out, you could say I’m a bit tense.

Obviously, I’m a little on edge about the whole scholarship thing – it’s a “diversity” scholarship for women, minorities and veterans, and my fear is (again) that I’m not someone who will be viewed as “disadvantaged *enough*”.
I put my heart into answering the essay style questions, and can only hope that is what counts.

Another point of stress this week – our internet stopped working over the weekend. I could have gone out somewhere (library, coffee shop, even used the wi-fi at work – after all, I pay for at least part of it!) but that seemed like a lot of work for a temporary issue.  At least that is fixed now and I can get back on track. In the meantime, I read this great article in Bloomberg Businessweek called “What is Code?” It’s super long – pretty much the entire magazine.
I also went back to reading HTML & CSS, and am getting pretty close to done with that. And I’ll get a half day in today, as it is slow at work, so the week isn’t a total loss.

This is the first time in a long while I’ve wanted time to just fly by. I just want to be past any uncertainty and to get started.
